This remodel project began with the homeowners' desire to improve the space's functionality when entertaining. With its small dark rooms, the family felt the home's old layout wasn't optimized for lake living. When entertaining in the formal dining space at the front of the house, the homeowners found that guests would often pick up their plate and head into the kitchen at the back of the house to enjoy the lake views.
Clean lines, optimized functionality and low-maintenance were the major goals of the homeowners. TruKitchens, Bruce Heys Builders and Lynn Hollander worked together to come up with a contemporary design to open up the space. The large island features a Wenge wood countertop from Grothouse where the family often plays euchre with guests. The wet bar with Marvel wine cooler and ice maker offers guests the perfect space to enjoy beverages away from the kitchen while dinner is being prepared.
