Built in 2006, this home in Saugatuck, Michigan sits on over 12 wooded acres overlooking the Kalamazoo River. Beautiful views can be seen from every room. Previously owned by a painter, this home boasted bold color and design choices throughout, but no where more so than in the kitchen. The new owners, one of whom is a metal sculptor, loved the space but desired a more tranquil, clean-lined look. This kitchen remodel features transitional style selections that will be enjoyed for years to come.
Working within the existing footprint, the space was opened up by removing the large and unusually shaped island in the middle. A peninsula was employed to add more casual dining space, countertop space, and cabinetry for storage. A beautiful bar area was created in the transition space between the dining area and the kitchen. Glass upper cabinets framed in black sparkle with the help of in-cabinet lighting. A back hall closet was removed to create space for a large pantry and double wall ovens. Unique metallic tile runs from countertop to ceiling behind the range, creating a focal point in the kitchen.
