This home was the headliner of the 2017 Spring Parade of Homes in Grand Rapids but continues to be a fan-favorite today. The owners of this wonderful modern prairie-style home wanted to ensure that the design of the home emphasized the forest-framed views of the river. Understated earth tones, light colors, Fon du Lac stone and wood accents also play off the home’s surroundings creating a space that truly embodies the modern prairie-style home.
Rustic light oak and sandalwood poplar were used throughout the home to tie together the spaces. The natural grain visible in all of the cabinetry lends itself to a natural feel. The dark walnut island countertop and white quartz perimeter countertops continue the organic sense of the cabinetry. All of these finishes juxtaposed by the clean lines of the hardware, flat-front cabinet doors and modern ringed pendants hanging over the island create a modern prairie-style that is worthy of the home’s beautiful location.
